Come on, there is no need for complaints. It is either newb corps complaining about being wardec'd, having no experience in pvp and being wiped out, or pvp players with experience and skills complaining about blobing. ...
except that proposals offered in this thread would emphasize player skill over numbers. so, who's complaining?
Do you have any idea how much skill it takes to manage a huge blob? Not to mention having friends helping you isn't something automatic. Social and management skills, you heard of them?

Originally by: Jagga Spikes yes. i understand what you are trying to say. just not why. if you are skilled, then why are you bashing idea of making blob even more skill based?
No you don't understand.
By giving large blobs of ships penalties, you nerf the social and management aspects of the game and cater to to a more solo oriented atmosphere.
It's just blatant "I'm constantly outnumbered because I have poor social and political skills, CCP please buff my way of playing the game and nerf the majority".
If you're outnumbered, bring ships that counter the blob. Sniper hac's, stealth bombers, etc. There are ways to boost guerilla warfare besides giving direct penalties to blob warfare. Giving more strategic objectives to worry about, for example.

Originally by: Jagga Spikes i understand importance of social and political management. numbers are important. but linear scaling of focus fire damage is wrong. it promotes uniformity and rigidness. all ships become equal to reduce effects of losing them.
with stack nerf on damage, we could have ships with active, buffer, passive or hybrid tanks; squads based on either shield or armor rep; assault sqauds, sniper squads, stealth squads; command ships within squads; logistic within each squad; each performing specific tactic within fleet's unified strategic plan. without fear of being insta-popped by 100+ ship alpha.
and you are willing to drop all that for braindead zerg that is blob? why?
Do you honestly believe damage stack penalties will make the above strategies viable? Nothing will change, except battles will be slower and smaller fleets will have a bit more chance against bigger fleets.
There are already support, anti support, tacklers and anti tacklers, all sorts of roles. Forcing people to split damage between targets adds nothing.

Blobbing is dead FYI, with the amount of 10 man stealth bomber gangs going around. Pilots HAVE to spread around and align if they want to have a chance of keeping their ships.
Stealth Bomber gangs are officially FOTM.
